Welcome Message
On behalf of the Executive Committee, I am very pleased to announce IUPAB2024 congress in Kyoto, Japan. This congress will be held between 24 and 28 of June, 2024 in Kyoto International Conference Center, as the joint congress of 21st IUPAB (International Union of Pure and Applied Biophysics) and 62nd BSJ (Biophysics Society of Japan).
As you might noticed from the top page, the concept of this congress is ‘Rocking Out Biophysics’. We have put this phrase to mean that we will shake up biophysics at this conference and create new biophysics together. I believe that one of the important roles of academic activity is to update existing concepts. And I think biophysics is a discipline that brings powerful perspectives and techniques to update existing concepts in life science boldly. We aim to make this conference a place where researchers from various fields, including biophysics, from all over the world can gather and bring new perspectives and technologies to shake up the current biophysics itself.
To this end, we invite outstanding researchers from biophysics and related fields who have made remarkable achievements that bring innovative perspectives and technologies to the plenary and keynote talks. In addition, more than 30 sessions will feature invited talks by leading scientists in their fields. Each session will also include cutting-edge oral presentations by young researchers selected from an open call. In addition, we would like to invite poster presentations to showcase unique researches from around the world.
Another highlight of this congress is Hands-on training program for young researchers to experience front-line biophysics research in Japan. In this program, each host university or research institute will accept about 10 young researchers before the main meeting to experience state-of-the-art high-speed AFM technology, ultra-high-resolution and large-field imaging technology, large-scale simulation technology, and so on. Each project is also linked to the scientific session of the congress, providing an opportunity for participating young researchers to learn widely from the basics to the applications. Partial support for travel expenses is planned for participants in this program. Details will be announced on this website soon.
In order to foster an atmosphere of free and open discussion and exchange among participants from different generations, countries, and positions, we are also planning a variety of events, including a mixer with Japanese sake. We will announce the details on this website as soon as they are decided. Please look forward to it, too.
Let's rock out biophysics!
Sincerely yours,
