IUPAB2024 Student and Early Career Researcher Poster Award

Outline of the award

The organization committee of IUPAB2024 and the committee of Biophysical Society of Japan (BSJ) will confer “IUPAB2024 Student and ECR Poster Award” to excellent poster presentations delivered by students and early career researchers (ECR) in IUPAB2024. The poster award selection committee will choose awardees by considering the number of "likes" pressed to the posters and the balance of the research field, region of the presenters. We strongly encourage students and ECRs to apply for the awards.

Requirements for application

Student as well as ECR participants, not limited to the members of BSJ, are eligible for the award application. ECR applicants must be within 5 years after obtaining the doctoral degree at the time of the abstract submission (If an applicant has experienced life events such as childbirth or nursing care, he/she must be within 7 years after obtaining the degree at the time of the abstract submission.). Each applicant must be the first and presenting author of the poster presentation at IUPAB2024. Only one application per presenting author is allowed.

Application procedure

At the time of the abstract submission and poster presentation registration, indicate your willingness to apply for the award by clicking the appropriate box. The application is possible only at the time of abstract submission. If the poster application period for IUPAB2024 is extended, the application period for the poster presentation award will be similarly extended. The IUPAB2024 office will send each poster presentation award applicant a receipt of application by email. If an applicant does not receive the notice after one week of the closure of the application period, please contact the secretariat (IUPAB2024-kyoto@c-linkage.co.jp).

Screening processes

Approximately 10 members of the poster award selection committee will be established during IUPAB2024 by considering the research fields and regions. The committee will choose awardees by considering the number of “votes" pressed to each of the posters and the balance of the research field, region of the presenters. We plan to confer ~30 % of the applicants for each of the fields.

Announcement of awardees

The award will be given to the first presenting author of the presentation. Names, titles and affiliations of the awardees as well as their presentation title will be announced at the Closing Ceremony of IUPAB2024 and on the web page of IUPAB2024. The award certificate will be sent to the awardees.
