Performance: Musical performance of traditional Japanese instruments by AUN & HIDE
AUN & HIDE
“Music has no borders. However, our music has a nationality.” This is the motto of twin brothers Ryohei and Kohei Inoue, who were main players with the drum ensemble Ondekoza for 12 years. Then they formed a group with HIDE, a star Japanese traditional musical instruments player of the Kodo Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble for 17 years. The group AUN & HIDE is a new form of traditional Japanese ensemble featuring perfectly harmonious performance; they freely express themselves using wadaiko (Japanese drum) combined with shamisen, shinobue (bamboo flute), and other musical instruments to convey Japanese tradition and present to the world. Appointed by the Agency for Cultural Affairs as one of Special Advisors for Cultural Exchange for 2011, the group toured four Asian countries and after that, in 2013, released the first album “ONE ASIA.” This super-trio of Japanese traditional instruments continued to create original compositions and do live performances. Then the long-awaited second album “HAGANE” was released in 2020. Now both children and adults are fascinated by AUN & HIDE’s performances themed around rediscovering of Japanese traditional instruments. On this occasion, please enjoy a new Japanese sound plus a keyboard and a bass.
