Workshop 1: Basic Aspects of Microsurgery
- When: May 15, 2025
- Duration: 2.5–3 hours
- Instructors: Drs. Yelena Akelina, Naomi Lammens, Alberto Ballestin
- Participants: Novice students (max 15)
Curriculum:
- Master the working knowledge of the microscope, instrument handling, and ergonomics.
- Learn basic suturing techniques using a plastic glove.
- Practice basic anastomosis suturing on synthetic models.
Workshop 2: Advanced Aspects of Microsurgery
- When: May 16 or 17, 2025
- Duration: 2.5–3 hours
- Instructors: Drs. Yelena Akelina, Naomi Lammens, Alberto Ballestin
- Participants: Novice students who attended Workshop 1 or experienced surgeons (max 15)
Curriculum:
- Refine arterial anastomosis techniques using cryopreserved arteries:
- Two-stays method
- One-way up method
- Perfect venous anastomosis techniques using cryopreserved veins:
- Two-stays method
Competition
- Showcase Your Skills!
- Prizes awarded to the fastest and most precise anastomosis with 8 stitches using 10-0 suture:
