We are pleased to announce that the 48th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Sleep Research will be held at Pacifico Yokohama North (Yokohama, Japan) on Thursday, July 18 and Friday, July 19, 2024.

Since its dawn, the Japanese Society of Sleep Research has established an interdisciplinary tradition of multidisciplinary thinking about sleep by bringing together people from diverse fields related to sleep, including basic sleep science, sleep medicine, and sleep sociology. This regular scientific meeting serves as a forum for members from a wide range of fields to discuss and explore new areas beyond their own fields of affiliation.
In the 11th ICD (International Classification of Diseases), Chapter 7: Sleep-Wake Disorders is now treated as an independent disease. In Japan, too, there is a need to establish a medical system that allows specialized treatment and wide access as an independent disease area, and the establishment of a sleep medicine department is one of the major themes.

Therefore, the theme of this year's conference is "Anatomy of Sleep: Wider, Deeper, Further," and we aim to further develop the interdisciplinary tradition that has been established thus far, covering several fields in a comprehensive manner and exploring new knowledge. We hope that the discussion will transcend traditional boundaries, with topics ranging from sleep science, sleep medicine, and the sociology of sleep, as well as a spotlight on sleep surgery in the field of clinical medicine.
