Notice of Reschedule : The 116th Annual Meeting of JSPN

Notice Regarding the Format of the 116th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology

After careful consideration, the board and organizing committee has come to the decision to hold the 116th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology, rescheduled to be held from Monday September 28th to Wednesday September 28th, 2020, in hybrid format – both on site at Sendai International Center and online – through on-demand and live broadcasting. However, we will continue to observe the infection rates of the new coronavirus COVID-19 and in the case that a hybrid-style convention poses too high a risk on the health and welfare of our participants, we will hold the meeting entirely online.

In the Event of a Hybrid Meeting

Participation in the meeting may be carried out through the following 3 ways:

  1. On-Site Participation – Attendance capacity to be reduced by 50%, no more than 2500 participants per day. Social Distancing to be observed. Attendance priority to be given to speakers and chairs.
  2. Live Broadcasting – Each hall’s sessions will be live broadcast through a fixed camera and will be viewable online during the duration of the sessions (excludes poster hall).
  3. On-Demand Broadcasting – All sessions, including poster sessions, will have their audio and PowerPoint presentations broadcast on-line, available on-demand from the meeting start date to scheduled end date.

Please note that participants will not be able to participate interactively online in the event of a hybrid meeting. In the event that any speakers cannot be on-site to deliver lectures, excluding certain lectures by overseas speakers, presentations will be broadcast in on-demand format using audio and PowerPoint data only. While we hoped to use interactive and simultaneous web distribution for this meeting, the costs and preparations were deemed too large due to the expansive size of the society. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your kind understanding.

In the Event of an Online Meeting (Decision by End of August)

  1. Designated special and educational lectures will be delivered interactively online during their session.
  2. All sessions, including poster sessions, will have their audio and PowerPoint presentations broadcast on-line, available on-demand from the meeting start date to scheduled end date.

Credits for Medical Professionals

  1. Regardless of meeting format, all presentations and lectures including poster sessions will be available on-demand online in PowerPoint and audio format, viewable from September 28th to October 31st. A maximum of 20 credits may be earned depending on viewing time. eLearning questions and answers will not be available.
  2. In the event of a hybrid meeting, all presentations and sessions will be broadcast live (excluding poster sessions) in addition to on-demand viewing detailed in point 1. These live broadcasts may only be viewed during their scheduled time. Viewers can also earn credits based on their viewing time of live broadcasts.
  3. In the event of an online meeting, designated special and educational lectures will be delivered live during their session in addition to the on-demand viewing detailed in point 1. These live broadcasts may only be viewed during their scheduled time. Viewers can also earn credits based on their viewing time of live broadcasts.

We would like to offer our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused due to the above schedule changes made in response to the spread of new coronavirus COVID-19, and truly appreciate your kind understanding in light of the current situation.

We will continue making every effort possible in preparing for this meeting’s success, and thank you in advance for your continued support and cooperation.

With Kindest Regards,

Hirooki Yabe
Chairman
116th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology

NOTE 1) Live broadcasting refers to real-time online broadcast of lectures or training sessions. While it is necessary for speakers to deliver their lecture at the venue, general participants do not need to be present on-site.

NOTE 2) For on-demand broadcasting, presenters will need to create a PowerPoint presentation paired with an audio recording of their voice in advance and uploaded both to our server for online distribution. Viewers can freely access the contents any time and anywhere by clicking on a provided link. Neither speakers nor participants need to be present at the venue.

The above live and on-demand broadcasting methods are collectively referred to as web broadcasting.
