Yukio Miki, MD, PhD
President, The 53rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (JSMRM 2025)
Professor and Chairman, Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka Metropolitan University

The 53rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (JSMRM 2025) will be held from August 29 (Fri.) to August 31 (Sun.), 2025, at the Himeji Culture and Convention Center, “Arcrea HIMEJI.”

Originally, we considered holding the conference in Osaka. However, due to potential difficulties in securing accommodations caused by the concurrent Osaka-Kansai Expo (EXPO 2025), we finally decided to host the event in Himeji. Coincidentally, Himeji is also the hometown of my ancestors, which brings a personal sense of connection to hosting this event in this beautiful city.

“Arcrea HIMEJI,” a modern facility opened in 2021, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The venue offers excellent accessibility, located approximately two hours by limousine bus from Kansai International Airport and just a ten-minute walk from Himeji Station, a stop for the Shinkansen “Nozomi” line. The facility boasts superior seating and sound systems, and its layout allows for easy movement, ensuring a comfortable experience for all participants.

The theme of this year's meeting is “Crosstalks with Different Fields.” As magnetic resonance (MR) technology evolves, its applications are expanding across numerous fields, including nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, regenerative medicine, and artificial intelligence (AI). We believe that interdisciplinary collaboration will be essential for MR in the years ahead. At this meeting, we plan to explore new MR applications in these diverse areas and discuss the potential for collaborative research across disciplines. Esteemed speakers from Japan and abroad will present cutting-edge research, fostering scholarly exchange at the highest level.

Additionally, Himeji is home to Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and National Treasure of the country, which draws visitors from all over the world. During the conference, we hope participants will enjoy strolling through Himeji’s historic streets and experiencing Japan’s rich cultural heritage. We also invite you to savor local specialties and historical scenery, creating a memorable experience beyond the academic content of the conference.

It is my sincere hope that the 53rd Annual Meeting of the JSMRM will be a meaningful experience for all participants, contributing to the advancement of research and clinical practice through interdisciplinary exchange. We look forward to warmly welcoming you all to JSMRM 2025.
