We are pleased to announce that the 64th Annual Spring Meeting of the Japanese Society of Clinical Cytology will be held at the Nagoya Congress Center, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, from Friday, June 9 to Sunday, June 11, 2023. We look forward to your participation.

Currently, cytology and pathology related research is evolving at high speed, including advances in genomic analysis and with the introduction of AI technology. However, conventional diagnosis based on tissue- or cell -based morphology remains important in clinical practice. Mastering and perfecting the cytology established by our predecessors is our way of honoring their contributions and thanking our patients for providing the opportunity to learn. Our desire is to pass these artisan skills and techniques to younger generations, with encouragement to apply them to new technologies. Being enthusiastic about cytology and cherishing exciting moments in clinical discovery enriches our professional lives and provides joyful experience. By combining the mastery of cytology with new technologies, we advance patient care and contribute to society. Therefore, in light of the current trends, the theme of this annual meeting is "Be fascinated with the mastery of cytology! — Mastering the art and passing it on to the next generations". We hope that those of us engaged in cytology experience fascination, enthusiasm, and joy in cytology, and that the mastery of established techniques will be passed on to the next generations of experts and applied to new technologies developed in the future.

Cytology is deeply related to the cervical cancer screening in Japan. The incidence of cervical cancer was unfortunately increasing. Raising the screening rate, improving and adhering to the screening management guidelines including colposcopy, and increasing the vaccination rate are important issues for the eradication of cervical cancer. We need to propagate these preventive strategies for cervical cancer in this meeting.

The Japanese Society of Clinical Cytology (JSCC) is an academic organization consisting of physicians specializing in cytology and cytotechnologists who perform cytology for the purpose of cancer diagnosis and screening. Physicians specializing in cytology that belong to the society include gynecologists, surgeons, internists and pathologists as well as cytotechnologists. The member of JSCC includes more than 11,000. We expect over 6,000 members to attend the Annual Meeting. We sincerely look forward to having enjoyable and fruitful discussions with you all in Nagoya, Japan.
