Abstract submission period
Oral presentations: March 28 to May 9, 2023 at noon.(Japan Standard Time)
Designated presentations: Nominated speakers will be contacted individually.
Submission of abstracts
- Abstracts must be submitted online via the UMIN system.
- The text of the abstract can be prepared in Japanese or English
- Speakers at sessions with other speakers from overseas are requested to submit their abstracts in English.
- The presenter is the first author of an oral presentation.
- Foreign national presenters (of oral presentations) who are currently studying in Japan are exempt from registration fees.
Presentation style
Oral presentations
- Oral Japanese presentation.
- Oral English presentation.
- Poster presentation.
Please select 1,2, or 3. However, we may not be able to meet your request. After peer review by the program committee, we will let you know acceptance or rejection of abstracts, the style of presentation, presentation number, and other details by E-mail by the end of July.

Awards
1. Excellent Poster Award
Awards will be presented to the best poster presentations.
Requirements: First author must be under 40 years of age (as of April 1, 2023). If you wish to apply for the Award, please indicate it at the time of your abstract submission.
2. English Presentation Award
Awards will be presented for the best oral presentations in English.
Requirements: No age restriction. No need to apply for it.
3.Yes-Japan Award
Awards will be presented to the best poster presentations.
Requirements: First author must be under 40 years of age and a medical student, young physician’s early career, or a medical staff.
4. Award
The awarding ceremony will be held on the last day of the exhibition.
Eligibility and conditions
Ethical considerations
Abstracts will be accepted for peer review following confirmation that there are no ethical issues related to the study. Presenters must adhere to the “Declaration of Helsinki” and must bear ethical responsibility for their presentations. Please answer the questions concerning ethical issues at the time of abstract submission. If there are no ethical issue with the contents of your presentation, you do not have to state that in the abstract. Please make certain that you do not disclose private information regarding patients involved in the study.
Abstract overlap
All abstracts must be original and previously unpublished. If your abstract for this congress overlaps with one for another presentation, please send a copy of the other abstract to the Secretariat of the 56th Annual Congress of the Japan Epilepsy Society.
35th International Epilepsy Congress and 56th JES do not compete with each other, and international and domestic abstracts are considered as separate.
JES membership status of first author
The first author must be a regular member or temporary member of the Japan Epilepsy Society. If you are not a member, please apply for membership at the time of abstract submission. More than one regular member must be included as a co-author when a presentation is given by a temporary member.
