Call for Abstracts
Meeting Format of The 54th Annual Congress of the Japan Epilepsy Society
(As of December 1, 2020)
The 54th Annual Congress of the Japan Epilepsy Society is currently scheduled to be held as a hybrid on-site/online meeting from September 23rd to 25th, 2021. We might consider making further revisions to the meeting format should the situation related to COVID-19 change.
【Oral Presentation (Japanese), Oral Presentation (English)/English Session, Poster Presentation】
All presentations will be broadcast on-demand using PowerPoint.
【Designated Session (other than above)】
Some lectures will be held at the venue. Many of these will be broadcast live during the session period with or without the use of video conferencing applications for communication between the lecturers and audience on-site. There will be some lectures not held at the venue, but will be broadcast on-demand using PowerPoint only.

- First authors from abroad, including those who are currently living in Japan, are exempt from registration fees.

Please choose 1, 2, or 3 at the time of your abstract submission. Peer review of submitted abstracts will be conducted by the program committee and you will be notified by email of the decision regarding acceptance by the end of April.
Eligibility and conditions
Ethical considerations
Abstracts will be accepted for peer review following confirmation that there are no ethical issues related to the study. Presenters must adhere to the “Declaration of Helsinki” and must bear ethical responsibility for their presentations. Please answer the questions concerning ethical issues at the time of abstract submission. If there are no ethical issues with the contents of your presentation, you do not have to state that in the abstract. Please make certain that you do not disclose private information regarding patients involved in the study.
Abstract overlap
All abstracts must be original and previously unpublished. If your abstract for this congress overlaps with one for another presentation, please send a copy of that other abstract to the Secretariat of the 54th Annual Congress of the Japan Epilepsy Society.
JES membership status of first author
The first author must be a regular member or temporary member of the Japan Epilepsy Society. If you are not a member, please apply for membership at the time of abstract submission. More than one regular member must be included as a co-author when a presentation is given by a temporary member.

Awards
- 1. Excellent Poster Award
All Poster Presenters under 40 years of age (as of May 31, 2021) are eligible for the Excellent Poster Award. Selection will be made by specialty. If you wish to apply for the Award, please answer the related questions at the time of your abstract submission. - 2. English Presentation Award (English Session)
All first authors of an Oral Presentation (English) are eligible for the English Presentation Award. If you wish to apply for the Award, please answer the related questions at the time of your abstract submission.
Conflicts of interest (COIs)
- The Japan Epilepsy Society (referred to as JES hereinafter) stipulates that its members voluntarily declare their COI status accurately when participating and presenting in various JES activities. Therefore, all presenters at The 54th Annual Congress of JES are obliged to disclose their status regarding COIs.
- Please answer the question concerning COIs at the time of abstract submission. If you choose “There are items that apply, so I will submit the declaration form,” please download “Form 1: Disclosure of Conflict of Interest (COI) by Lead Presenter,” then fill in the form and send it to the Secretariat by email. The deadline for submission of Form 1 is March 26 (Fri.), 2021.
