I am Tomonobu Hasegawa with the Department of Pediatrics, Keio University School of Medicine. I am greatly honored and deeply grateful to be appointed as President of the 97th Annual Congress of the Japan Endocrine Society (JES). I am also aware of the scale of my responsibilities to this appointment.

The 97th Annual Congress of JES will be held in a hybrid style, combining in-person meetings at the Pacifico Yokohama North from Thursday, June 6, 2024 through Saturday, June 8, 2024, followed by on-demand recordings made available after the Congress. We will adhere to the “With/After COVID-19 prototype”, previously established at the 95th and 96th Annual Congresses.

The theme of this year’s Congress is “Endocrinological Journey Never Stops.”, and it represents two principles followed by all members of JES: that human endocrine system functions continuously throughout all periods of life starting from fetal to end-of-life stages, and that we, JES, and the science of endocrinology will never stop advancing. Under this premise, we hope the Congress brings opportunities of enjoyable and extensive learning for all participants, regardless of their sub-specialties and areas of interest within endocrinology, scopes of experiences in healthcare or research, gender, age, etc. We will also prepare a number of programs for certified internal medicine specialists in endocrinology, metabolism and diabetes (by Japanese Medical Specialty Board), as well as Board Certified Endocrinologists (by JES), including internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, and neurosurgery. We also plan a countdown session toward the 100th anniversary of JES’s foundation.

We are happy to have received requests and proposals from members of the Program Committee chaired by Dr. Kotaro Yokote (Department of Endocrinology, Hematology and Gerontology, Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine) in building attractive and productive program offerings for all.

We will strive to make this Congress meaningful and fulfilling to all participants. Needless to say, your contribution, including abstract submissions and participation in the Congress, is, by far, the most critical for the 97th Annual Congress of JES in achieving this goal. I sincerely look forward to meeting you all at the 97th Annual Congress of JES in Yokohama, Japan. Thank you.
