BarBIQ: a novel method for single-cell-based quantitative analysis of bacterial microbiota using droplets
To understand how the bacterial microbiota (“forest”) interacts with the environment and other organisms, it is essential to characterize the individual bacterial components ("trees"). However, it is still difficult to determine which types of bacteria (i.e. taxa) and how many organisms of each taxon are present in the microbiota.
This session will present BarBIQ (Barcoding Bacteria for Identification and Quantification), a novel method for identifying bacterial types based on 16S rRNA sequences with single-based accuracy and quantifying the number of cells for each identified bacterial type in a high-throughput manner using droplets.
